#summergratitude

Yesterday was the longest day of summer in the northern hemisphere.

I absolutely love summer time.  I love the warmth.  I love the light.  I love walking around in Birkenstocks and not having cold feet.

Since 2011 I have played a hashtag game on Twitter with my friend Kelly.  I swear Kelly and I are sisters from another mister, perhaps separated at birth, for some reason drawn to each other through blogging and connected by a spiritual common ground and passion for family, food and sport…  And gratitude.  Anyway, way back in 2011 Kelly tweeted using the tag #summergratitude, and I joined along.  We used the tag to celebrate all things we loved about summer.  Every day we used the tag to mark things that caught our eye, that we were thankful for.  It was a positive and uplifting part of my online life in 2011, and we continued to use the tag in 2012.

This year, we have decided to grow the #summergratitude community.  We invite everyone to join us in using the hashtag, to tweet and post on Instagram favourite summer photos and moments.  We invite you to join us on Facebook.  We invite you to join in celebrating and being thankful for all things summer.

Each week Kelly and I will post on our blogs our favourite #summergratitude posts.  From small things like the smell of rain on hot pavement and fireflies at dusk.  To bigger things like 4th of July BBQs and vacations at the beach.  And everything in between.  Join us in giving thanks for the joys of summer.

My personal goal is to post at once a day on the #summergratitude tag, between now and the autumn equinox on September 20th…

Please join me – I can’t wait to see what you share!  #summergratitude

  1. Gorgeous Donna – I love the idea. I have signed up on facebook but seeing as it is winter here in the southern hemisphere, I won’t be contributing. However, I will be relishing in everyone else’s gratitude for the joys of summer which will help to get me through my runs in the dark, cold mornings and swims at the pool. Thanks.
