The Teapigs Matcha Challenge

In December teapigs contacted me to ask me if I would be interested in participating in their New Year matcha challenge.  As you might remember from my December blog about my nutritionist visit, matcha is on the list of things for me to “take” to rebuild my system after getting totally run down with a good 9 months of intensive travel, a lot of exercise, and a tendency to do it all.  It is loaded with antioxidants – over 130 times more than a cup of green tea.  So without hesitation, I agreed to join in.

What is the Matcha Challenge?

For 20 days, I have agreed to do the following:

  • Take a 1/4 teaspoon of teapigs matcha with the drink of my choice (or on its own as tea)
  • Keep track of how and when I drink the matcha
  • Track how it makes me feel, and if it impacts my energy levels
  • And when it is over, to share my thoughts about matcha as a product

In exchange, teapigs have sent me a matcha kit.  So generous, especially as I am already a huge fan of their product.

Yes, I already have an open tin of their matcha which I am drinking my way through…  So… If you would like to join me in this challenge, or if you are just interested in trying matcha, please leave a comment at the end of the post, and I will randomly select someone to receive the spare matcha.  Please leave your comment by Thursday the 5th of January, so that I can choose a winner and pop the “green stuff” in the post to you on Friday!

And… as I only have one extra tin of matcha available, I have a 20% off code available to use until 12 February 2012.  So whether you want to join in the challenge, or if you are interested in trying matcha, or if your own stock is running low, feel free to use this code when you order matcha on the Teapigs website— just type in “MATCHABLOG12” at check out.

Let’s start 2012 off on a healthy foot!

Disclosure: Teapigs provided me a matcha kit in exchange for my participation in the teapigs matcha challenge, and a blog about my experiences.  I already buy teapigs and love the matcha, so happily agreed to participate.  For the record, I don’t hold back on my thoughts, nor let them get skewed by free product. I will report back at the end of the month with a no-holds barred account of my 20 days of matcha consumption.

  1. Count me in! I’m hooked on matchasource.com’s Sugar Blocker matcha blend with Gymnema sylvestre (an Ayurvedic herb used to treat diabetes). It’s replaced my midafternoon sugarjunk fix (or, at least, reduced it). Everyone at the office has asked about my elegant little bamboo whisk and my afternoon matcha ritual!

  2. Hey there!  Would love to join you in the challenge!  Hadn’t ever heard of matcha before, but now really want to try it!

  3. I’ve been looking at the teapigs website for a while and have been thinking about trying out the matcha so a free sample would be a great way to get into it. Matcha challenge sounds like a great idea too! Happy New year

  4. MMMmmmmm matcha. Wish I had someone contacting me to drink their tea. God knows I go through enough of it on my own. wink

    Keep us updated.
